Daze is an app for keeping meaningful moments as photos, videos, audio recordings and text. It is made by Linqed LLC ("we"). This policy explains what Daze does with your information. The short version: your Moments stay on your phone, and we don't collect them.
Everything you capture in Daze is stored only on your device: photos, videos, audio recordings, text, captions, the date of each Moment and which Moments you've Loved. Daze has no accounts and no servers of ours. We never receive, see or store your Moments.
If you allow location access, Daze records where your phone was when you started writing a Text Moment. It asks your phone's location service for the current position and stores the coordinates exactly as the phone reports them, which is often precise enough to identify a specific building, or approximate if you only allowed approximate location. They are stored with that Moment on your phone and included in your exports. Photo, video and audio Moments don't record a location.
When you open a Text Moment's info, Daze shows a place name for those coordinates, such as "Norfolk, CT". To get it, Daze asks your phone's built-in geocoding service, which on most phones looks the place up over the internet: Google's service on Android, Apple's on iOS. Google or Apple may process the coordinates to answer, under their own privacy policies. Linqed never receives your coordinates. Daze keeps the place name only while the app is open and never stores it; only the coordinates are saved.
How your phone works out its position, for example using Wi-Fi, mobile networks or GPS, depends on your device's location settings, not on Daze. Location is optional, and Daze works fully without it.
Daze only shares something when you choose to. In this version that means a backup file (below), which you send through your phone's share sheet to the app or place you pick. Copies saved to your photo library can also be shared from there, outside Daze. Whatever app or service you share with handles your information under its own privacy policy. Linqed doesn't receive anything you share.
Daze contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking services, and it doesn't use an advertising ID. We don't sell, share or rent your information, because we never have it.
Separately from Daze, Google Play and your phone's operating system may collect their own diagnostics, such as crash and performance reports, depending on your device settings. That collection is governed by Google's or Apple's privacy policies, not this one.
Daze can export all your Moments to a single backup file when you ask it to. You choose where that file goes, such as Google Drive, iCloud Drive or your computer. The file isn't encrypted: anyone who has it can open your Moments and see where they were captured, so keep it somewhere private.
Daze has no automatic backup, and Android's own app backup is turned off for Daze. If your phone is lost, reset or damaged, any Moments you haven't exported can be gone for good, and we can't recover them, because we never had a copy. Export regularly, and after saving anything you'd hate to lose.
Because your Moments live only on your phone, you control them. Uninstalling Daze or clearing its storage deletes every Moment from the app. Backup files you saved, and copies in your photo library, remain until you delete them yourself.
Daze isn't intended for children under 13. Parents may use it to keep Moments that include their children; those Moments stay on the parent's phone like any other, and Linqed doesn't collect them. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
If Daze starts handling information differently, for example by adding optional cloud features or analytics, we'll update this policy and its effective date before that change ships.
